YDA Parent Meeting information
summary of information discussed at September parent meetings in Durham and Chapel Hill

YDA Parent Meeting August 2010

Below is a quick recap from our YDA Parent meetings that took place at the end of August:

  • Training T-Shirts and Uniforms: these are being distributed when they come in during practice and games

  • Website—the will provide as much information on the site as possible for all of our families

  • Emails—a lot of the communication for YDA comes through email—if you would like another email added to the distribution list, please email YDA@triangleunited.org with your child’s name and age group

  • Practice Time—please make sure you are on time for the start of training; training begins at 500pm, so please do your best to get there PRIOR to 500pm—we will end promptly at 615pm each night (North Durham begins at 545pm and ends at 700pm)

  • Game time—please make sure you arrive PRIOR to each game AT LEAST 30 MINUTES from your scheduled start time—

  • Coaches/Games—From time to time, our coaches during training will switch teams and/or switch players around from group to group—we want our players to know one another as well as our coaches know all the players; there are times here and there as well that different coaches may coach your games; in order for us to get the quality coaches we have for YDA, we need to utilize some of our classic/challenge coaches to coach and therefore we do have some conflicts from time to time—however, there will always be a TU Staff present with your child’s team.

  • Friday Night Clinics—Every Friday night, we will be running FREE of CHARGE, extra sessions for our players; more info to come on time and start date

  • NO Coaching from Sidelines—in YDA, one of the things we try to manage is very little coaching during the games from our coaches; we want the players to see experiment and try things during the games with very little direction; as far as parents are concerned, we ask that there is NO COACHING/DIRECTION while the players play; encouragement for all players is appreciated, but please try to refrain from telling your kids what to do—it becomes too difficult for the kids on who to listen to (mom/dad vs. coach?)—

  • NCCL—this is the league we play in for YDA—the website is www.ncchampionsleague.com; please make sure to check the site each week in case of a game change; this does not happen often and if it does, we do try and email everyone, but just in case, it is a good habit to get into—
