CHICAGO (March 7, 2011) – The U-15 Boys’ National Team will convene for its first camp of 2011 from March 13-20 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. U.S. head coach Jim Barlow will work with a group of 36 players, all born in 1996, during the week.
Of the 36 players heading into training camp, 20 come from Development Academy clubs including Tyler Turner, who was the first player born in 1996 to earn U-15/16 Performer of the Week honors in early March and four New York Red Bulls Academy players. The U.S. team will train about twice per day while also playing friendly matches against local Development Academy teams throughout the week.
This will be the third training camp for the 1996s at the U-15 level, with the last camp held in Bradenton, Fla., in December. There will be 22 players returning from that camp, which was held in conjunction with the U.S. U-17 MNT Residency Program.
The current crop of U-15 players is age eligible for the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship and the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
