Duke PT Available for TU players

For those of you who are new to TUSA or who I have not had a chance to meet yet, I wanted to send out some information to you about myself and Duke Sports Medicine. Two years ago, Duke Sports Medicine started a Soccer Outreach Program to the community. At that time we began a partnership with TU. Our goal is to serve you by providing quality medical care, and to provide education on injury prevention, health and wellness and sports performance unique to the soccer athlete.

For the spring 2012 season, no one will be available this spring to be at practice for injuries, however you can contact us for appointments for injured players. The main person you can contact is Alanna Cooley  at alanna.cooley@duke.edu.  She coordinates our entire outreach program. Please don’t hesitate to contact her with any needs you may have. She will assist you in getting athletes scheduled for appointments with physicians or PTs as needed.

If an athlete requires further evaluation or needs to be seen by a physician I can schedule an appointment for the athlete with one of our physicians or physician assistants in 1-2 days to provide you with quality medical care in a timely manner.

Another way that we are available to you is to work with individuals, teams or small groups on sports performance such as running, jumping, landing and cutting technique to make you faster and quicker as well as to minimize injuries. I can do this informally on Monday evenings with individuals or small groups. I can also schedule a time to work with your team for a session. Another option is to have a more formal program over several weeks established for the specific needs of the individual or small group for a small fee.

Lastly, our Soccer Outreach Program at Duke Sports Medicine would like to educate you on some of the specific needs of the soccer athlete through articles and video clips. Check the TU website for articles and go to the following Duke Health link for more information and resources on our Soccer Outreach Program:
