For the 6th year in a row, Triangle United will once again be involved in the DBYAL inner-city youth soccer program in Durham. DBYAL "provides recreational opportunities to Durham's inner city youth, many of which were Latino and African American. More importantly, the program provides a great opportunity for all youth including those who are "at risk" while teaching youth about leadership, teamwork, winning and losing--with dignity and respect for self and others." The DBYAL program offers basketball as well as baseball. The Durham Police department and the Durham Bulls are very involved with this program as well.
Triangle United is involved in every capacity of the program from scheduling, to setting up the fields, to finding referees, to supplying uniforms, to getting goals to use, etc...
The games will begin on Saturday October 10th and run every Saturday for 7 weeks, ending Saturday November 21st. Games are at 9am, 10am, 11am, 12noon, and 1pm each Saturday. We are working with the following 10 elementary schools this fall in Durham: Holt, Club Blvd, CC Spaulding, WG Pearson, Eastway, Morehead, Burton, Merrick-Moore, RN Harris, and YE Smith (there may be 2 more schools joining as well)
If you are interested in getting involved through reffing, helping with some coaching, or just being involved in the program, please email John Cirillo.
