Recreation Programs

Welcome to the Triangle United Soccer Association Recreational Soccer Page! We are proud to administer and collaborate with four premier grassroots programs—Chatham Soccer League (CSL), Rainbow Soccer, South Durham Soccer (Woodcroft), and Triangle Area Girls Soccer (TAGS)—to deliver high-quality, local soccer opportunities across the Western Triangle area of North Carolina.

Designed for boys and girls ages 4 to 15, our regional network focuses on age-appropriate player development, healthy sportsmanship, and minimizing travel times for local families. By utilizing localized, volunteer-led community hubs for weekly practice sessions, we ensure players spend more time on the ball and less time on the road. Furthermore, our community-driven structure offers exciting regional crossover play for older age divisions and culminates each fall and spring season in our signature Recreational Festival, a tournament that unifies all four networks for a fun weekend of celebration and competition.

Chatham Soccer League (CSL)

Serving the youth players of Chatham County, NC since 1993, the Chatham Soccer League partnered with Triangle United in the spring of 2020 to expand, run, and organize recreational programming in the surrounding Chatham and Pittsboro areas. Leagues are carefully divided into age-specific divisions, with youth teams playing small-sided soccer matches—ranging from 3v3 and 4v4 up to 9v9 formats. This deliberate small-sided setup is designed to maximize touches on the ball, accelerating individual player development while maximizing enjoyment of the game.

Rainbow Soccer

Based out of Chapel Hill, Rainbow Soccer partnered with Triangle United in 2005 to bring a fun and welcoming recreational environment to local families. Serving more than 1,100 children each season, the program embraces a rich multi-cultural player base and deep community roots. Focusing on coed youth programming, Rainbow Soccer prioritizes core motor function and basic sportsmanship, structuring foundational divisions into small-sided environments that progress into standard field layouts as players age

Southern Durham Recreation

Formerly known as Woodcroft Soccer, Southern Durham Recreation has been an integral part of Triangle United since 2005. Games and practices take place at different local field locations throughout South Durham, providing boys and girls from ages 4 to 15 the ability to learn and play soccer locally. To ensure a diverse pool of competition and opponents, the league incorporates regional cross-over games with Rainbow Soccer and Chatham Soccer for older players in the 10-15 age range.

Triangle Area Girls Soccer (TAGS)

Formed in the summer of 2017, Triangle Area Girls Soccer (TAGS) is a specialized collaboration originally built by Rainbow Soccer and Southern Durham Recreation (then TU @ Woodcroft) to establish a dedicated, all-girls environment for female athletes ages 7 to 14 who prefer not to play in a coed league. Driven by high local demand and a mission to grow the female grassroots game, TAGS expanded its boundaries into Chatham County in 2021. Today, this combined effort between CSL, Rainbow, and Southern Durham Recreation successfully delivers high-quality, girls-only recreational soccer across Chapel Hill, Chatham, and Durham,
